Revox A700 Taperecorder
Due to increasing failures and defects of the Revox A700 sliders, we would like to offer you our newly developed replacement controls. The original potentiometers and sliders are no longer available. Electrically and mechanically compatible potentiometers are also unavailable. We are doing everything we can to preserve these fantastic machines – after all, "the" Krautrock band Novalis made a profit from them!
Revox A700 Rules
The old controller is of considerable height and has mounting holes spaced 80 mm apart.

It is significantly smaller in all dimensions. The size differences are compensated for by the use of a circuit board and an additional adapter.
Only the control distance of 60 mm has remained the same!
Plug & Play
The plug-in version is fully pre-assembled and ready for installation in the Revox A700 tape machine. Several steps are required before the potentiometers can be accessed. However, everything is straightforward and easily doable!
The soldering version
The effort required to access the potentiometers is comparable to that of the plug-and-play version. Large pads have been provided for soldering the wires, allowing even those without experience to make the connections.
Slider
The sliders also need to be adjusted to ensure everything fits. The height and shape must be designed to match the buttons and the position of the Revox A700.

First, the back panel of the Revox A700 is removed by loosening eight screws. The next step is to carefully remove the back panel. Pay particular attention to the connection panel and the power cable, which were previously unplugged from the power outlet.
Caution! Ventricular fibrillation caused by an electric shock can be fatal even after 12 months. If you have suffered an electric shock, it is strongly recommended that you seek immediate medical attention.
base plate
To dismantle the base plate, it is first necessary to remove the baseboards, which are fixed with six screws.
Audioeinheit
The entire audio unit can be loosened and pulled out to the front using four screws.

The complete audio unit is connected to the Revox A700 with just 3 plug connections.

With 4 screws the front chassis can be unscrewed from the audio unit
Installing the sliders

Soldering version
Here you can replace one regulator after the other, resolder the existing wires according to the plan and screw on the new circuit boards.
Plug & Play
It's even easier here. Simply unscrew the old potentiometers and replace them with the new circuit boards. To route the wires for the Record Master control, the shield plate of the VU meter should be removed. Be sure to use the included plastic washers on all screw connections. This is the only way to ensure the correct height and avoid short circuits!
