Toggle switch
The toggle switches on the Revox B700 series are a vexing issue. Time and again, the plastic levers of the toggle switches break off. Either the plastic becomes brittle over the decades due to the loss of the plasticiser, or the levers break due to overuse!
Of course, our new toggle switch levers look great and match the Revox design perfectly. The feel and switching behaviour are also first class. If you had to replace a toggle switch, it would cost around €40.00 (2 * UM) or even €50.00 (4 * UM). In the meantime, there are no more new toggle switches!
We then looked for a company that could manufacture the levers to the required quality. Another company was responsible for the nickel plating and subsequent chrome plating.
We now have the toggle switch levers manufactured from a single piece of aluminium and anodised to match.
The repair
of the Revox toggle switches
The individual parts
of the switch are the spring, the plastic lever, the slide with cover, the two or four contacts with the respective springs that press the contacts outwards against the cover, the deflection unit, two nuts, two rubber buffers and two housing shells.
Nut
To prevent the nut on the upper housing shell from falling off during assembly, it is temporarily fixed in place with one of the screws supplied.
Assembly
All of this has to go into the lower housing shell.
The spring ensures that the construction keeps falling apart! You have to be patient and somehow hold everything together. Then fit the upper housing shell and screw it together with the second screw.
Done
This is how it should look when you have assembled everything.
Instead of rivets, the housing shells are screwed together.
